This is a field trip class that meets before the start of the Autumn quarter with some meetings during the quarter to discuss papers and presentations. We will travel by van to the Sierra Nevada where we will examine the forest ecosystems and issues in managing those ecosystems for different purposes.
Depart Seattle: September 9th, early
Sunday, September 9th Depart Seattle (parking lot C10, behind Winkenwerder) at 07:30. Travel to Klamath forest area (685 km) Overnight at Jackson Creek Campground, Winema National Forest
Monday, September 10th The Klamath and the Klamath Plan (Norm Johnson) Travel to Black’s Mountain Experimental Forest (240 km) Overnight: Butte Lake Campground, Lassen Volcanic National Park
Tuesday, September 11th Black’s Mountain Experimental Forest (Carl Skinner) Overnight at Redding, CA (on SPI land)
Wednesday, September 12th Travel around Lassen National Forest and vicinity (140 km) Overnight: Snake Lake Campground, Quincy
Thursday, September 13th Travel (85 km) Quincy Library Group (Michael Jackson, Linda Blum, Chris Knoff) Overnight: Sagehen Field Station

Sunday, September 23rd Return to Seattle (1725 km) very late. Some vehicles may elect to spend the night en-route.
